$52,234 raised for the Tracadie Hospital

Tracadie The Fondation Les Amis de l’Hôpital de Tracadie Inc. will enable the Tracadie Hospital to acquire several new pieces of equipment thanks to the generosity of its donors. In fact, more than $52,234 was raised during its 2021 Annual Campaign, the objective of which was $40,000.

The main fundraising initiatives of the 2021 Annual Campaign, including the Northern Star Campaign and the Rose Radiothon, will allow for the purchase of the following equipment:

MEDICINE – Bariatric Bed

The bariatric bed on the Medicine Unit can be used for bariatric care as well as palliative care. It has the ability to expand to accommodate the physical needs of large patients. For families of palliative care patients, it allows them to be more closely accompanied by being able to sit in the bed with the patient if they wish. This will allow a more intimate and human approach in the context of the imminent death of a loved one.

AMBULATORY CARE – Infrared Coagulation System

In the endoscopy clinic, this infrared coagulation system will be used for patients with hemorrhoids. This system is new to the department because at the moment, the specialist has to use rubber bands to tie up the hemorrhoids and it is very painful for the patient and some cannot tolerate it. The addition of an infrared coagulation system to the endoscopy clinic will improve the quality of care offered to patients during an endoscopy by providing a painless and very effective treatment. This piece of equipment will be used on average 3 times per day, so approximately 425 patients per year will benefit from it.

ECG – Holter (cardiac monitor)

The Holter devices at the cardiology clinic must all be renewed. They allow the detection of heart rhythm abnormalities, a recording of the heart’s activity over a longer period of time than the electrocardiogram, a more precise diagnosis of heart rhythm disorders, and greater freedom for the patient.

The president of the Annual Campaign of the Fondation Les Amis de l’Hôpital de Tracadie, Mr. André Morais, emphasized his gratitude towards all levels involved. “It is very important to remember the importance of community mobilization, of which we are a perfect example. It is thanks to our volunteers and donors in our region that thousands of patients will be able to benefit from improved health care in their homes”.

The mission of the Fondation Les Amis de l’Hôpital de Tracadie is to raise funds to improve the health care offered by the Tracadie Hospital.
